Norman Reedus Talks Daryl Dixon’s Possible Romance With Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier; ‘The Walking Dead’ Star Says ‘I Don’t Want To See It Coming’

February 13, 2015

With the return of “The Walking Dead” season 5, fans have been waiting to hear more about Norman Reedus’s Daryl Dixon. Will romance bloom between Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier?

In an recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, “The Walking Dead” season 5 star Norman Reedus shares his thoughts about Daryl Dixon’s romantic relationship, and the possibility that Carol Peletier might be on the receiving end.

Norman Reedus said, “I think if he’s going to zero in on one, it’s going to happen by accident, and he’s not going to be the one zeroing in first.” He continued, “Then he’ll just stay with her. I think he’s like an eagle-once they start flying together, they’ll always fly together.”

He also compares real life from the possible romantic experience that his character Daryl Dixon might experience. “It’s become such a big deal, who I hook up with [on ‘The Walking Dead’]. In real life, when you hook up with someone and it’s real, you don’t see it coming, so I don’t want to see it coming.”

For the fans who are waiting for romance to begin between Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier in “The Walking Dead” season 5, this is not good news. Caryl (amalgamation of Carol and Daryl) is the most obvious coupling; from what Norman Reedus has recently pointed out, should there be romance for Daryl Dixon, he doesn’t want it to be as obvious as Carol.

Meanwhile, Dixonne fans (Daryl and Michonne) are still rooting for Danai Gurira’s Michonne to claim Daryl Dixon’s heart. To which Norman Reedus commented in an interview with Daily Beast and said, “She’s a cute girl. I’m not opposed to it.”

Norman Reedus Talks Daryl Dixon’s Feelings For Beth And Carol, Midseason Finale

November 28, 2014

Norman Reedus fans get ready to swoon – The Walking Dead star recently talked about Daryl Dixon’s feelings for Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney).

During an interview with Yahoo! TV, Norman Reedus was asked yet again about whether Daryl is in love with Carol or Beth. Instead of getting annoyed about being asked the same question during every interview, Reedus dutifully provided an answer that shouldn’t upset Caryl shippers or Bethyl fans.

Norman admitted that Daryl felt something for Beth during their days together, but he wouldn’t say that these feelings were of the romantic variety.

“When he was alone with Beth [in Season 4’s ‘Still’], I don’t know that he knew what those feelings meant, but they were feelings. It wasn’t so much a love affair as it was like, ‘Things can be good. Maybe you’re the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s, and you’re going to show me where all the candy is.’”

In other words, Beth was giving him hope and showing him that life doesn’t have to be all about surviving — she didn’t let the zombie apocalypse stop her from singing or enjoying her first alcoholic beverage.

Norman Reedus also talked about Daryl Dixon’s feelings for Carol, one of the toughest characters on The Walking Dead. The episode that featured Caryl’s adventures in Atlanta was titled “Consumed,” so it was fitting that Reedus used fire to describe Carol’s emotional journey.

“Carol means so much to him, and they’re so similar. He’s trying to keep the fire burning in her, and she’s put out that fire, built her own fires. Burned things down. Burned people up. There’s a whole bunch of symbolic gestures in all these episodes, but I think the stakes are super high for him, and he’ll do anything to get his two girls back.”

Reedus might refuse to choose one of Daryl Dixon’s “two girls” over the other, but his mom knows who she wants to see her son’s character settle down with. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Norman’s mother recently revealed her preference for Carol in a text message that went viral. Reedus explained why Carol is his mother’s favorite character on The Walking Dead.

“I think my mom probably sees a lot of herself in Carol, to be honest. My mom’s a really tough cookie, and she’s lived all over the world. She ran a school in Kurdistan recently. She taught high school in the Bronx and kindergarten in Harlem. She’s a very colorful badass, and I feel like she probably sees herself in Carol a little bit, you know, a fighter who gets things done.”

Unfortunately, Norman Reedus hinted that the midseason finale of The Walking Dead (“Coda”) will feature the loss of one of Daryl’s girls. During an interview with TV Guide, Reedus revealed that the final moments of “Coda” will be “devastating.”

“I sat on an apple box with my head between my legs and just bawled for an hour… I just sat there and cried and cried and cried.”

Norman seemed to suggest that the group of survivors will get close to saving Carol and Beth, but something will go horribly wrong.

“He’s one of those characters where they keep dangling a carrot in front of him and he keeps reaching for it, but the carrot falls in the mud right before he’s about to get it.”

Many fans of The Walking Dead believe that Beth Greene is a likely casualty of The Walking Dead midseason finale, but some fans of the show recently uncovered photographic evidence that might suggest otherwise.

As Uproxx points out, the death of Carol would be devastating news for Caryl shippers and those who want to see a Walking Dead spinoff starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride. Norman has joked about the idea for years, and his plan for The Caryl Show is very ambitious.

“It’s Daryl and Carol living in Central Park, and all the squirrels are going missing so Bloomberg’s putting out announcements that the squirrels are disappearing and we have sort of a [distillery] and tourist come by … and we try to charge them money. We have theme song that goes, ‘Carol is sterile and Daryl is feral/a match made in hell.’”

Many fans of The Walking Dead are worried about Carol and Beth, but here’s a scary potential plot twist: What if Norman Reedus was crying because Daryl Dixon gets bitten and dies during the midseason finale? If Daryl meets his demise trying to save Carol and Beth, at least fans got to see him using a walker head as a deadly bowling ball in last week’s “Crossed.” Speaking of which, Norman Reedus recently shared a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo of Daryl’s gruesome encounter with one of the hospital cops.

Spoilers: A Major ‘Walking Dead’ Cast Faces a Horrible Death in Mid-Season Finale

November 28, 2014

The Walking Dead continues to produce heart-gripping, action-filled scenes each episode in Season 5. There’s no question why they’ve always landed the number 1 spot in TV ratings at its previous seven episodes as it always surprises its audience with controversial scenes and twisted plot lines that leaves many fans guessing. Now in its mid-season finale, you can expect nothing short of astonishing battles that will leave you gasping and wishing for more.

In last week’s episode of the Walking Dead, with Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) return, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his team were divided again as the half of them embarked on a rescue mission to rescue their friends, Carol (Melissa McBride) and Beth (Emily Kinney) from the hands of the cops holding them hostage on the Grady Memorial Hospital; while Carl, Father Gabriel, Micchone and baby Judith stood their ground in the church.

The last leg of their rescue mission will continue in Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 8, entitled ‘Coda’. Grab your Katana, Crossbow or your choice of weapon, because you will join Rick’s team in an all-out war in the midseason finale. We have spoilers ahead for you!

According to IB Times, Walking Dead fans can recall that the head of the survivors was willing to go through the rescue mission with guns blazing, but Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) wanted an alternative to the inevitable bloodshed, which had been supported by Daryl.

Rick will continue his attempt to negotiate an exchange with Dawn (Christie Woods), saying they don’t want anyone to get hurt and just want to have their friends. He is adamant of entering a situation of not getting entangled in a fight. But, the cops have other plans and they might need to resort to violence and be forced to fight back.

A spoiler-filled synopsis for ‘Coda’ revealed that Rick and his crew’s new enemies will ‘disregard rules and morals’. They will find no peaceful resolution. Dawn had not hesitated in using force in order to get bend things to her will. Her abusive behavior towards Beth was clear as day in the past episodes. While she could get nothing out of Beth and Carol really, her decision could help her prove herself to her fellow officers. A showdown will happen between the two teams, who are both unwilling to back down to one another.

Meanwhile, Father Gabriel left the rest of his companions in the Church, much to Micchone’s (Danai Gurira). He will venture into the woods alone, unarmed and unprotected. Will he survive against the deadly Walkers in Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 8? Will he go back or will Micchone go after him?

For those wondering about the other half of the survivors, who are on their way to D.C., Now that the truth had been revealed that Eugene (Josh McDermitt) was not a scientist, the crew hit a major roadblock. Would they still go ahead to the nation’s capital? Or will they realize it’s too much of a risk and it’s time to return to the group they left in the Church?

Rumors have also swirled that the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 8 will be a real tear-jerker. Melissa McBride commented that the next episode was a ‘heartbreak’, which probably gave more away than she thought it did.

Norman Reedus recently shared in an interview that he cried during the filming of the mid-season finale. He admitted, he had to ‘sit on apple box’ with his head between his legs for an hour. He couldn’t help, but cry. “He’s one of the characters where they keep dangling a carrot in front of him and he keeps reaching for it, but the carrot falls in the mud right before he’s about to get it.” He said.

So far, fans’ speculations were torn between Beth and Carol as the one who’s going to say goodbye to the cast. The most rampant has been Beth’s character as she faced a ‘horrible death’ next week. This has not yet been confirmed, so fans will need to watch out for Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 8.

Melissa McBride: Obviously, There’s Something Going on With Carol

October 25, 2014

The Season 5 premiere sealed it: The Walking Dead’s Carol Peletier is primetime’s reigning action heroine.

“She’s doing these extraordinary things that two years ago… she never would have fathomed she would be running around in a blanket full of guts, blowing things up,” actress Melissa McBride tells Yahoo TV about her character, Carol. “I love her. I’m so endeared by her.

“I was elated that the writers came up with this particular story for her, this role for her to play. I was so proud of her, creating that wonderful diversion. And I loved it that she was going to take it on at any cost, to try it, regardless of the consequences. She could be killed, she could be mistaken for a walker. Anything could’ve happened, but she was going to try, and I loved that.”

Carol’s badassery is going to be called on again and again this season, be it running off with Daryl to find Beth, as we saw her doing at the end of Episode 2, or helping her friends understand, as she puts it, that they can’t rely on luck to see them through their ever-more-dangerous world. McBride talked to Yahoo TV about why she gets so emotional about her character, why Carol is having a hard time reconnecting with her friends, and a cryptic preview of what’s ahead for Carol the rest of Season 5.

Before we jump into Season 5, when you were asked about Carol at New York Comic Con a couple of weeks ago, you became very emotional about her. What sparked that?
I get emotional when I think of her… just how far she’s come. I love the strength that she’s able to experience now within herself. My heart just goes out to anyone who has to struggle against anything like that. You think, “It’s never going to end. I can’t find the strength within myself to do what I know I need to be doing.” It’s such an internal conflict, and my heart goes out to anyone who has done what they needed to do to overcome that situation. Carol represents to me so many people who I know in my life who are still here, maybe still struggling, or who are not here anymore. [Carol] is definitely a hero to me and a hero to a lot of people who identify with her story so far. That makes me truly, genuinely, very happy.
